School Yoga Institute ~ Teacher Training with Personal Transformation Like No Other
Mystical Yoga Style
Mystical yoga is the union of eastern Sadhana Yoga and western indigenous shamanic practices for radical awakening.
As well as meeting Yoga Alliance standards for anatomy, alignment, theory and pedagogy, SYI trainings hold a strong intention for personal transformation. In this way, the courses are designed not only to provide students with tools to share the wisdom of yoga with others, but also to look at their own lives from a spiritual perspective.
In order to teach yoga we must ourselves be clear and connected, thus much of the work we will do during our time together is personal. Each training holds a unique energy and each group comes together differently, but in all cases we form a tribe that is there to guide you, as you pick and choose what you would like to grow in your world and what you would like to leave behind on your path.
To guide the process of personal transformation we draw on the ancient wisdom of the East as well as on the Shamanic Medicine Wheel of Peru. Our trainings are arranged in four cycles, following the four cardinal directions, asking the guardian spirits to guide a cycle of release, understanding, growth and empowerment. Together we create a space that reveals our wisdom within and accelerates the realization of our life purpose.
A Day in the Life
Each day carries an intention, a spiritual lesson of the day, that we explore throughout the day. We begin each morning with a sunrise meditation, followed by asana practice and yogic breakfast. The day is spent learning yogic theory and healing practices through workshops, classes and group discussions. During this time we cover the fundamentals of yogic living, including yogic diet, anatomy, meditation, cleansing practices, pranayama, Ayurveda and the ancient wisdom of the Yoga Sutras. Our trainings also open up to include other methods of healing, calling on not just the physical and mental elements but also the more subtle forms such as earth medicine, energy healing and shamanic journeying.
We share the Art of Teaching and Art of Touch, during which students learn to teach two asana sequences, the Mystical Hatha Flow, a slow, meditative, Sivananda-based practice, and the Mystical Vinyasa Flow, a more intense, breath-synchronized flow. We also share the fundamentals of intelligent sequencing and explore alignment and adjustment of poses in depth. Each evening we close with Satsang, our evening gathering, which may be meditation, kirtan chanting or sacred ceremony.
Mystical Yoga, our yoga of spiritual practice, reaches deep into the roots of this ancient way of life, calling on us to reveal the yoga, the union, within everything. Our 200-hour trainings embody this approach, opening us up to the wisdom and the teacher that is already within us all. We dance, we chant, we sing. We find community with like-minded people and we embrace the stillness within ourselves. We call on our intuition for the answers and we speak from spirit to spirit. We dive deep into the experience, free from unnecessary distractions and allow our authentic connection to emerge.
Throughout the process of the 200 hr YTT, we have the opportunity to step into our power as yoga teachers who share the mystical dimensions from where we all came and to which we will return. The universe is a place of discovery, mystery, and mysticism. We come into this world to unveil our own soul-purpose and to reveal our own gifts, so we can serve the world and advance our own spiritual evolution. Through our Mystical Yoga practice, our personal spiritual exploration, we uncover the mystical connection within us.
Mystical Yoga is the true gift the universe has manifested within the SYI family and has guided us to share with humanity. The intention is to transcend physical practice, allowing it to become a vehicle for spiritual insight. Although we use the name Mystical Yoga and communicate through that form, the practice is nameless and formless. From the ancient wisdom, daily yoga mystical practice, and through our transformative mystical yoga practice, we begin to reveal a greater sense of beauty, love, and freedom. We see yoga as a vehicle that carries us to experience and enjoy the pure, true essence of life.
The path will ask for self reflection, growth and discipline. Our trainings provide an opportunity to learn under the Gurukula system, living with our teachers – both our external gurus and our inner gurus, and immersing ourselves in the world of yoga.
During our trainings, we ask participants to embrace all aspects of the yogic lifestyle, such as observing a vegetarian diet, living free from the distractions of other substances, and moving away from internet and unnecessary communications with the external world.
Upon completion of the training you will receive your RYT200 yoga teacher certification. We are a Registered Yoga School RYS200, RYS300, RYS500 and RPYS with Yoga Alliance which is highly recognized internationally.
Who Can Attend?
Our training programs are appropriate for yoga practitioners of all levels, beginner to advanced. Many people do attend the trainings without intention to teach afterward but rather to deepen their own practice and knowledge of yoga. The RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) 200 Mystical Yoga Teacher Training Course is designed for those who are called to become yoga teacher, become yoga practitioner, step into our epic journey of soul, learn the tools and experience the gateways to release the things no longer serving us and claim our innate gifts and wisdom to serve our own journey and serve our beloved brothers and sisters on this planet earth.
Our graduates commonly report receiving much more than a yoga certificate from our program. It is often described as a life changing experience that provides an opportunity for individuals to know themselves and a deep and lasting way. Our programs offer much more than the physical aspect of yoga, we offer our students the opportunity to embark on a journey that brings them to a place of inner knowing.
Sense of Community
At SchoolYoga Institute, everyone is wholeheartedly accepted and encouraged. We create and hold space where participants feel safe and comfortable. We support the growth and expansion of people’s horizons — physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and energetically. As a group, a community, a tribe, and an extended family, we practice and learn to let go. We allow the world to unfold before us without reaction or judgment.
Our intention is to guide aspirants through their own healing journey in order to better prepare them for healing others, letting go of anything that holds them back from what their hearts are truly called to. Together we unveil the essence, learning to taste the sweet nectar of life while maneuvering in the world with strength and grace.
Open yourself to what is there, leave all expectations behind and enter the enlightened perspective and sacred landscape of your training with an open heart – whatever comes will be exactly what you need.
