Katiza Satya

“Life is a dance, Light is our true body and Love is our true nature. Enjoy being Human!”

I was born in 1960 in Santiago, Chile into a happy and loving family. My path towards ‘spiritual awakening’ started when I was 13 years old when I had an accident and almost died. This experience completely changed my view of life.

My search to find answers to ‘what was life all about?’ became my main motivation and brought yoga into my life. In 1986 I had another major accident and had to learn to walk again. This made me realize how precious the physical body is and how fragile we are. The body is our vehicle and we must take care of it as a sacred instrument. In 2010 I was in a scooter accident. Life took another leap for me; to completely live the teachings, give them others without any reservations.

During my recovery of all these accidents, I always felt a vibrant secure feeling pulsing inside of me. Yoga and meditation gave me the support I needed. They were great tools to keep me physically in form and mentally sharp, while I was clearing up the ground of my mind. The sweetness in my heart of the present moment was with me all the time.

At the age of 24 I was initiated into the Kriya Yoga teachings from Paramahamsa Yogananda. I followed them and did my daily practices.

Some years later I was introduced to Dzogchen, the Vajrayana teachings of Tibetan Buddhism of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, a Tibetan Lama. I felt totally at home and from that moment on I followed that path integrating it as part of my life.

Then I met my Guru ’Papaji’ (H.W.L.Poonja) from Lucknow/India. He took everything away – all my practices, all teachings. He left me empty and full at the same time. The sense of ‘I’ was gone. Only the sweet eternal presence was there.

Slowly and effortlessly, without much notice, I became a ‘living yogini’ and the Yoga Teacher in me was born. Inside of me had grown a great amount of inner wisdom, knowledge and in-depth grounding in Vipassana & Mindfulness meditation, Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, Iyengar yoga, Vinyasa style yoga and the living yogi lifestyle in general. Sharing these teachings was inevitable.

I have studied with many great teachers and masters in Europe, America and India. Great influences in my life have also been yoga teacher Clive Sheridan, Sri Ramana Maharshi, B.K.S Iyengar, Guruji Pattabi Jois, vipassana teacher S.N Goenka, Parahamsa Nithyananda; Sarah Powers, Tsultrim Allione. For the last 2 years I have studied with Tenzin Wagya Rinpoche and receive the teachings of Balinese Priestess Maha Rsi Alit who is guiding me in the Tantric Yoga of Avadhuta Mukti.

My only inspiration is to help and guide others to the place where they can realize their true Self. I have travelled the world. Then Kura Kura gave me a place where I can share all I experienced and learn with you.

“It wasn’t a choice, I just tried to surf the waves of awakening that came to me fearlessly”

From the beginning I wasn’t the ‘normal boy’. Everything felt too small, I was too sensitive, had too many talents to choose one. I was always curious about anything that would make explosions. ‘Energy’ was the place where I felt at home. Nature was my ground and my teacher. Martial arts became my physical and mental training.

In my early 20’s my life changed radically after an experience of awakening that came just through Grace, I saw the ‘veil of Illusion disappearing in front of my eyes’ and the naked emptiness and void manifesting in front of me. Everything changed from that moment on. I had the feeling of being paralyzed and scared and at the same time invade me completely. It was too big for my mind and I wasn’t prepared for this. After that, nothing made sense any more and my search into the spiritual path started.

My first steps were in the Buddha’s teachings, started with Vipassana Meditation retreats with S.N Goenka. Traveling through India, Tibet and Nepal I learned the most precious teachings from many Masters, who at that time still unknown in the Western world.

In the mid 90’s I met Sri K Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India and really felt that he was my Guru. Over a period of 8 years I studied Ashtanga Yoga with him.

For many years I taught in Byron Bay, Australi where Wave surfing and Yoga became my life. I never intended to be a teacher, I was just a practitioner and a seeker. I was a living yogi without a choice with an urgency and longing in my heart that will never be satisfied. It is just now that all has come together and the readiness to share is born from being complete.

In my teachings I apply many yoga techniques from the many teachers and masters from different styles and traditions. My motivation is to help the student optimize their vitality mentally, physically and emotionally, and to reconnect with their source of relaxation and spiritual inspiration by establishing a daily practice.

Other important teachers I directly learned from include: T.K.V. Desikachar, Chennai, India son of the great yoga master Krishnamacharya. Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Vajrayana Buddhist master Nepal and India. Zen Master Hogen, Japanese Zen meditation. Dr.Vagesh Shashtri, Varanasi India, sanskrit/tantra and kundalini yoga master.  Santiago Dobles, qi gong, kundalini and Tibetan Bon Po shamanic techniques, and many others who have given their precious knowledge, including recently the Balinese Priestess Maha Rsi Alit who is guiding me in the Tantric Yoga of Avadhuta Mukti.
